Dr. Amalia Olivera-Riley is currently at Repsol, as Quality Assurance Manager in the Geology Department. In her role she is responsible for quality of geologic projects in exploration and appraisal stages. Previously, she developed a 17 year career at ExxonMobil, based in their Houston office. She’s been involved in a broad variety of geoscience projects in basins around the world, ranging from large scale regional studies to field scale projects, from exploration to production both in technical and leadership roles. Amalia also worked at Southwestern Energy, where she focused on Frontier New Ventures, evaluating new unconventional exploration opportunities.
Over the past five years, she played a key role in growing ExxonMobil's exploration activities in South America, particularly in Argentina. In parallel with her technical focus, Amalia has had a devotion to students, visiting geoscience departments around the US, and teaching field and classroom student courses in collaboration with ExxonMobil colleagues. In recent years, Amalia had a short stance in Human Resources expanding her interests outside of the technical realm, understanding how organizations find and define an identity, to create a productive and focused work environment. Amalia earned a degree in Geology from Universidad de Buenos Aires, and a PhD in Geoscience from Purdue University who presented her with the Outstanding Alumni Award in 2008. Amalia is married and has 3 children.
